AI companions, matcha, and more recs
Hello Earthling,
I’m sorry it’s been a while again, but I’m back with a *new* edition of Mind Club!
This is Favorite Finds, a curated selection of discoveries and recommendations. I’ll be sending out Favorite Finds in addition to the regular edition. If you have any favorite finds you’d like to share, hit reply, and I’ll include you + your find in the next edition.
☁️ Five Favorite Finds:
💚 Pi: Tony Stark has Jarvis, Batman has Alfred, and you have…. Alexa? Siri? Cortana? Something better 🙂
Pi, which stands for “Personal Intelligence,” is a clever and friendly assistant in your pocket. It’s tuned as an AI companion, not just a chatbot. Pi responds like a good friend would.
I’ve tried Snapchat’s My AI, Bing Chat, and ChatGPT, so I didn’t expect Pi to be too different. But to my surprise, conversations with Pi are engaging and funny. Pi doesn’t just give you answers. It also asks A LOT of thoughtful questions. You can even talk to Pi through voice chat if you don’t want to text.
It’s incredible how fast these bots are evolving. Some people have married their AI companions, but I don’t think it will replace human interaction. I see them blending into our lives as coaches, teachers, and assistants offering support 24/7.
Try chatting with Pi and let me know what you think. Pi is available on heypi.com, the Pi app, WhatsApp, or Instagram.
🤖 Dall·E 2 and Bing: I’ve been experimenting with AI image generators like Dall·E 2 and Bing to visualize my ideas. With a few words, I was able to generate the images above. There’s a little trial and error to get the images right, but it helps to be specific with what you want to generate.

🧠 Hidden Genius: How do the world’s most successful people think? Polina Pompliano has written profiles on successful people and businesses for years in her newsletter, The Profile. In Hidden Genius, she covers mental frameworks top performers use to overcome challenges and unlock creativity.
Each chapter is filled with actionable insights and advice. You’ll find timeless lessons on topics such as taking risks, overcoming mental blocks, thinking clearly, and much more. It’s a quick read that I see myself picking up every time I need a little push.
🍵 Matcha: I switched my morning coffee for matcha recently, and it looks like I’m sticking to it. The energy boost I feel after drinking a cup of matcha feels nicer than a cup of coffee.
Matcha has almost the same amount of caffeine as coffee. But the body releases it slowly which means you won’t feel a caffeine crash after a few hours. The L-theanine in matcha is also known to help improve focus, reduce fatigue, and create a calming effect.
I’ve tried matcha from Ippodo, Kettl, and Matchaful. Different blends have different flavor profiles. So far, my favorite is Kettl’s Hakana Matcha. Kettl describes it as a rich and smooth tea that tastes like hazelnut and dried flowers. I find that Hakana smells like dark chocolate. It’s one of the blends I enjoy over ice (like an Americano) instead of milk.
🎧 Cercle Music: I’ve been listening to/watching/playing Cercle’s YouTube channel in the background while doing certain types of work. It’s a good break from the Lo-Fi and Soft House playlists I listen to on Spotify. Plus, I love how they perform in dreamy and unique locations.
